By Small and Simple Things

I was talking to my brother a while ago and he was telling me about a time he felt he needed to kneel down and ask God what God wanted him to do. His answer was a big, life-changing move that seemed exciting to me and powerful because it came from God.

So often in the past few years I too have asked for a similar revelation. I want a big answer, I'm willing to do it. Yet just now when I got down on my knees I asked the Lord what he would have me do and there was no life change he needed of me. To my mind came pictures of people I could help, small, one-on-one relationships I could invest in.

So often this is the work of women. Small and simple. One-on-one conversations. Serving one other person.

But the Lord has promised, "By small and simple things are great things brought to pass." There is no work more important than the Lord's work, whatever size it may come in.
