Lesson from Christmas #3: Because of Him

Each year brings new potential

Do we need to recognize the bookends of a beginning and end of a year? Why recognize things in years, I've wondered, when life and change is such a gradual process and doesn't necessarily fit within the confines of a year? I guess what is exciting about a year is to know that, at the beginning of one there is so much potential. You have the potential for life-changing experiences in the next 12 months. And you will change over the next 12 months whether you want to or not. That's why it is so satisfying to look back over a year and say, "Here is what I did with the year that was given me. Here's how I treated one year of my one wild and precious life."

It makes me want to be more intentional about my planning and thinking around 2018. While life is made up of a dozen tiny, daily decisions (and that is the thing I most often focus on), there are great big things we can plan for that can have a lasting impact. A year from now, what am I going to want this month to be known for? What kinds of things do I really want to do, or what can I be intentional about to help me grow my relationship with my children, my spouse, those closest to me?

    2. I miss them too. 🤣 I stare at that "to do" on my calendar each day, and I am almost there! I feel like I'm finally coming back to the land of the living and am able to accomplish more than just "feed and clothe" everyone each day. 😄 Carter has been sleeping through the night for a long time but babies are just a big adjustment for me for a while. So. I hope to get caught up and regularly updating the blog again soon. 😄
