A quick pit stop at Mt. Rushmore + Early Morning Driving

When we knew we would be driving to Montana this summer, I thought it would be fun to take a pit stop at Mt. Rushmore since it was pretty much on the way from where we live.

The Black Hills National Forest, where the monument is located, is really pretty and it would be fun to spend more time there if we lived closer.

Can you see it on the left?

Had to take a picture by our state! We had already been in the car for 16 hours (!!) by this point, so you can imagine we looked realllly goood.

Ben and I have decided we really like driving through the night. It's easier with the kids and you can get so many hours in without even "noticing." Also one of my favorite parts about early morning driving is watching the sun rise. This one is in South Dakota around 5am.

The landscape in this part of South Dakota was unique and pretty

I love fields too

When we were leaving Montana for Utah we convinced Whitney and Adam to leave at 5am as well. Montana sure was pretty at that time of day!

Thanks for the great times Montana!
