Let's Review

This post is just to confirm that Cheyenne looks nothing like me.

Me, age 6 months.

Cheyenne, age 7 months

Only similarities:
-She inherited my arm rolls! Nice!
-Maybe the nose
-Blue eyes are probably from the Flake side
-She does do that cute leg cross like I did, although not in this picture

We took these pics to commemorate our Last Sunday in a student married ward, and our last Sunday at this apartment complex. We have lived here the whole time we were married, so two years, and have loved our apartment and our ward. We are excited for the adventure that awaits us as we move this week into our own home! It's only 3 blocks south of where we live now, but hey, we will own it!

2 Years!

On Sunday I had a double whammy... our 2nd anniversary and Ben's first Father's Day. Whose idea was it to get married on Father's Day weekend?

On Saturday we celebrated our anniversary. We went to Lagoon (an amusement park). My sister Haley and her husband Greg were nice enough to watch Cheyenne all day while we partied like it was 1999.

I haven't been to an amusement park since I was like 8 when I went to Six Flags in Kentucky. Back then I actually called my mom to come get me because the rides were too scary. She said, "It's okay, I don't like roller coasters either," so I knew I was in good company.

I'm older and wiser now, right? Well let's find out...

We went on our first ride, "Roller Coaster" which is actually the oldest and ricketiest ride in the park (read: not that bad). I wasn't nervous as we stood in line, as my childhood fears were long since forgotten. We started climbing up a hill, no big deal. Then before I know it we were zipping around and up and down and I was screaming at the top of my lungs while my life flashed before my eyes. Ben was laughing at me the whole time, as he had no idea I was such a scaredy-cat.

He somehow convinced me to get in line for the ride "Wicked," and later explained it was actually the scariest ride in the park. But being the kind husband he is, he gave me a couple of pointers that really helped calm my nerves. He explained how roller coasters worked; that centripetal force holds you in your seat when you go upside down, and that inertia is what makes you go so fast after you make a climb. It all made sense to me, and I felt a little safer. But the best advice he gave? Close your eyes and pretend like you are flying.

I conquered Wicked, with my eyes closed of course, but I can say that I actually "did it." And we went on a few more rides, and by the end of the day I was enjoying myself. It was so fun, just the two of us, holding hands and laughing and joking. It was really to perfect setting to spend time together and rejuvenate our marriage.

Roasted corn on the cob. Roasted in an old-time roaster. Soo good!

Of course one of our favorites was Pioneer Village. Me in an old time telephone booth

One day this week I babysat Carter. He loves Cheyenne so much!

A fat cute baby doll!

Thanks Ben for the best two years of my life! "You just get better all the time." I love you.

Memorial Day Weekend and then some

Memorial Day weekend we went home to Horseshoe Bend for this event....
Baby Dillon graduated from high school! He gave the valedictorian speech, and it brought back memories of when I was up at that podium 5 years ago.

Here I am with my little sister, Cassidy, 16. Lots of people think we look alike.

Cheyenne's cousins couldn't get enough of her! She wasn't quite sure what to think. So glad Melanie's having a little one in September so those kids will finally have a baby to play with!

Cheyenne with her Grandpa Flake and his favorite view of Horseshoe Bend. With all the rain, it sure was beautiful this time of year!

Saying goodbye

Cheyenne is such a doll

I am a chubbo!!

She's trying to figure out how to crawl. Nope, that's not it.

 Our sweet little girl.

Rocking her to sleep after a rough day. We love her!

She loves exploring her exersaucer and especially loves it when her dad makes faces at her!
